Track Spotlight: Youth Empowerment

ACCESS has a proven track record when it comes to youth empowerment. From the Teen Grantmaking Initiative to the incredible civic engagement efforts of ACCESS ACTS, we have seen the impact young people can have when we give them the tools to mobilize in support of causes they care about. This is why the Youth Empowerment track at MOVE 2017 is so important – we need to empower the next generation of Arab American leaders to make an impact and advance change in their communities.

The Youth Empowerment track is designed for and largely led by high school students. During the summit, youth will lead workshops on a variety of topics ranging from civic and community engagement, building a career around your passions and interests, and fundraising strategies. MOVE 2017 will provide space for students to discuss important issues with Arab American youth and youth from other communities around the country.

The young leaders who attend MOVE 2017 will also have access to the larger event, including networking opportunities, conference meals, performances and artistic experiences (some of which will also be youth-led), and a ticket to the world premiere of the project The Films of Mohammed Bayoumi: A Screening w/ Live Score by the National Arab Orchestra, which will include a performance by the National Arab Orchestra Takht Ensemble and a dinner and reception at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

We have seen incredible things from young Arab Americans. We’re so excited for MOVE, where youth will come together for collaboration and discussion about what it means to create social change.

Tell us about the awesome, intersectional work that young people are doing in your community.
