Registration

Is MOVE open to the general public? Who can attend MOVE?

MOVE 2023 is open to anyone and everyone! Programing is geared towards anyone interested in or involved in activism, human service, art and culture, philanthropy, fundraising, education, capacity building for organizations, and youth leadership.


How can I register?

Register by clicking here.

First, choose your registration type (Standard Attendee, AANM Member, NNAAC Member, Student). If you don’t see an option that applies to you, select “Standard Attendee”. If you are an Arab American National Museum member or NNAAC member, click that option because you will receive a $50 discount. Students (highschool or college) have a special discount rate of $100 (must enter school email to verify).

Second, choose your attendee type (Full Conference Registration, One Day (Friday), One Day (Saturday). Then, click next and fill out the rest of the registration questions.

You may reopen your registration to change information at any time, such as if you can no longer attend an activity you RSVP’d for.


What are the payment options?

We accept credit/debit cards, and it is non-refundable.


Can I register for another person?

Yes. When registering, you can select multiple registrations at one time.


Are there scholarship opportunities?

Yes. Under the registration page, there is a scholarship link available. A limited number of scholarships will be available for those who need assistance attending the conference. Scholarships are intended to offset – but not fully cover – the cost of attending MOVE. Scholarships are open to all attendees, but preference is given to students, individuals with financial need, and first-time attendees. They are awarded on a rolling basis and selections are made based on availability of funds, financial need, and strength of the short-answer questions. Deadline to apply is 3/15/2023.


Can you change registration information once you submit?

Yes. You may edit your registration within 24 hours of your purchase.  Open your confirmation email and see the text “You may edit your registration information within 24 hours of your purchase.”  When you click on registration information you will be taken to a page that allows you to edit your registration.


How do I convince my school or employer to sponsor MOVE?

We recommend asking your school or employer to sponsor you to attend MOVE. A template can be found here.

Program

Where is MOVE going to be held?

Most MOVE programming will take place at The Henry Hotel in Dearborn, MI, but there will be events happening at multiple venues throughout the conference. Click here for a full list of conference venues and their addresses.


What is included in the registration?

MOVE 2023 will bring together members of the Arab American community for three packed days of programming that will include the following:

  • Wednesday evening welcome reception at the Arab American National Museum
  • Plenary speakers and performances
  • Networking and dialogue
  • Nontraditional, innovative workshop sessions
  • Presentations and performances from Arab American artists
  • A Thursday night signature event at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center – ACCESS’ 51st Annual Dinner
  • Friday evening TERRANEA: hakawatia of the sea performance

Is MOVE live-streamed?

MOVE 2023 will not offer any live-stream options.  The entire event will be an in-person convening.


I submitted a session proposal during the Call for Ideas. Will my session be included?

Unfortunately, we were unable to incorporate all session proposals into the program. We thank you for submitting a proposal and hope to see you there!

Accommodations

Does MOVE provide hotel rooms?

The Henry Hotel’s MOVE room rate of $169 a night has sold out!  You can book rooms through a general reservation at the Henry Hotel.  In addition, two nearby hotels to look into include:

  1. The DoubleTree by Hilton Dearborn
  2. Comfort Inn Near Greenfield Village

Yes. We have a hotel block at the Henry hotel, using this link you will get the special block rate. Reservations must be booked by 4/5/23.


Does MOVE provide transportation?

Yes. We provide transportation to and from The Henry Hotel to the official MOVE programming.


What meals are included?

All meals are halal. We do have vegetarian and vegan options available.

  • Wednesday evening dinner if you attend the welcoming reception at the Arab American National Museum
  • Thursday morning breakfast and Thursday afternoon lunch will be served at the Henry hotel
  • Thursday evening dinner is included as long as you attend the Thursday Night Signature Event at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center
  • Friday morning breakfast and Friday afternoon lunch will be served at the Henry Hotel

Are children able to attend?

You may bring your child to the MOVE conference. We tried our best to ensure we could provide childcare on site, but due to liability, that is not an accommodation we can provide at this time.


Will ASL interpreters be provided?

Yes, if notified. If you need an ASL interpreter, please contact Michelle Seredynski at mseredynski@accesscommunity.org as soon as possible.


Is there wheelchair accessible seating?

Yes, we will have reserved wheelchair accessible seating blocked off using blue tape. If you need help finding the reserved seating, please ask a volunteer.


Will there be an all gender bathroom available?

Yes. There is an all gender bathroom located in the Plaza Foyer.
